Can you please clarify what is included under bid item 13. 2" asphalt grind, 6" roadway removal for new 6" HMA section, dirt removal, etc?

Answer

Per section 7-03.03 of the project special provisions, grind asphalt pavement includes all the work described in Section 39-3.04, "Cold Planing Asphalt Concrete," of the Caltrans Specifications. Removal of asphalt pavement other than grinding is roadway excavation (earthwork) under Caltrans section 19, “Earthwork,” as referenced in section 5-01 of the project special provisions. Per section 5-05, this project will not measure or pay earthwork separately.
