Roadway Median & Shoulder Landscape Maintenance

Summary

The city of Los Altos invites sealed bids to provide median & shoulder landscape maintenance services within the city of Los Altos as outlined and delineated in the scope of services. The services to be performed under this contract shall consist of providing: all labor, material, equipment, and other services necessary for the complete and programmed maintenance of landscape areas on designated locations.

Bids will be presented to and considered by the City Council at a regularly scheduled meeting. The City shall award the contract for maintenance services to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder on the basis of the TOTAL BASE BID.

There are 17 Rain Master controls in the areas of responsibility for this contract.

How many irrigation controllers, what model(s), and what is the quantity of valves/stations that are in operation for each of the service locations? Thank you.

On page 2, Scope of Work, refers to 1. Fertilization- what frequency, type, and rate of fertilizer application for trees and shrubs? 2. Manually watering newly planted trees with no irrigation- How many trees are planted annually that need hand watering? Are Gator bags utilized? 3. Erosion control- What are the expectations around erosion control? Thank you.
1. No. Fertilizer is needed only when new tree/plant material has been planted. The existing plants and shrubs are established. 2. It is estimated that 5 - 10 trees, in the areas listed, are planted a year. Gator bags can be used. 3. Erosion control is used anytime, and practiced to prevent and protect land and water resources.
Page 3 mentions the city can provide a lighted arrow board for lane closures at a cost. Can you let us know the cost and can we rely on the city to supply the arrow board when needed? or should we plan on always having our own?
