The City of Los Altos, Santa Clara County, California, invites sealed bids for furnishing labor, material and equipment required to complete the project in the particular locations, of the forms, sizes and dimensions and of the materials and to the lines and grades and at the elevations as shown and delineated upon the plans and specifications made therefore.

The project generally includes providing an electrical service upgrade and providing electrical and HVAC system upgrades to the existing buildings.

Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference

A Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference is scheduled at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 09, 2024, to review the Project’s existing conditions at 1575 Holt Avenue, Los Altos, CA 94024.  Representatives of the City will be present. Questions asked by Bidders at the Pre-Bid Conference not specifically addressed within the Contract Documents shall be answered in writing and shall be provided to all Bidders.

Contractor's License

The Contractor is required to have a Class-B General Building license for this work. All bidders shall be licensed under the provisions of Chapter 9, Division 3 of the Business and Professions Code of the State of California to do the type of work contemplated in the project.

Bid Opening Instructions

Sealed bids must be dropped off inside the bid box left in front of the City Hall main entrance on October 23, 2024 between 9 AM and 3:29 PM. Additionally, sealed bids can be delivered via USPS, FedEx, UPS, or other carriers to the Department of Parks & Recreation at City Hall prior to the Bid due date.  Please clearly label the package with the project title and add “ATTN: Scott Reeves.”  Bids received on time will be publicly opened and read aloud on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 3:30 PM at City Hall.

Questions for this Bid/RFP

The scope of work being mostly mechanical would the City of Los Altos please consider allowing a C20 contractor bid as a Prime provided they list the proper subcontractors.
Yes, we will amend the contract documents via addendum to allow C20 contractors to bid this project.
Could you please confirm whether the trenching required for the electrical work will be performed by the contractor or PG&E? Should we include the cost of PG&E trenching in our total bid?
Please refer to the PG&E Engineering Drawing included in the Contract package for clarification. All off-site trenching (public right of way) will be completed by PG&E. All on-site trenching (private property) will be the responsibility of this bidder.
